The 2022 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody is unapologetically excessive, and thatâs exactly the point. In a world where muscle cars are slowly being refined and digitized, the Hellcat Widebody still feels raw, loud, and slightly unhinged in the best way possible.
Press the start button and the supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 immediately makes its presence known. With 717 horsepower, acceleration is violent and addictive. The car doesnât ease into speed it lunges. Flooring it delivers instant torque, a screaming supercharger whine, and a reminder that traction is optional if youâre not careful.
Where the Widebody really earns its keep is handling. Earlier Hellcats were straight-line monsters but could feel overwhelmed in corners. The Widebody setup with its wider stance, massive 305 tires, and revised suspension adds real confidence. It still feels heavy (because it is), but itâs far more planted and predictable than youâd expect from a car this powerful.
Steering is solid but not razor-sharp, and thatâs okay this car is about controlled chaos, not surgical precision. The Brembo brakes are excellent, providing reassuring stopping power that matches the carâs performance.
Inside, the Challenger shows its age in design, but it makes up for it with comfort and personality. The cabin is roomy, seats are supportive, and visibility is better than most modern performance coupes. SRT Performance Pages are a highlight, letting you track temps, boost, G-forces, and adjust drive modes. Itâs a muscle car that knows exactly what it is and leans into it.
Daily drivability is surprisingly decent. In automatic mode with softer suspension settings, the Hellcat can cruise comfortably. Fuel economy is predictably terrible, and the size can feel bulky in tight spaces but no one buys a Hellcat for efficiency.

best muscle car ever owned , very roomy , big trunk , someone can actually fit in the back seat , exotic color , attracts a lot of attention , a lot of power with not a lot of wheel spin , throws you back in the seat and just hang on , owned 2 ss Camaros , no comparison to this car , practical , powerful and useful… - 4.0
Good But Not Great
By Sam Bethune | on 12/26/2025 5:14:12 AM
I bought my 2023 Challenger SXT Plus in 2024 as an unsold leftover. For the most part it is a very comfortable car, fun to drive with good acceleration and reasonable fuel economy. The sticker on the car was just a bit north of $43K but I bought it for $28,000, I think thus was because the car is a white elephant - a V6 model with every option in the book except navigation, which you don't need if you have a smartphone with a maps program. The V6 has decent acceleration and generally goes from 0 to 60 in about 6 seconds. Gas mileage is about 23 mpg: decent but not earth shattering. Handling is rather soft but Sport mode improves it noticeably at the expense of the ride. Acceleration response is also better but at low speed the car feels a bit jumpy when you step on the gas. The long front end makes the car somewhat challenging (excuse the pun) to navigate in tight corners and difficult to park. The build and quality have been generally quite good although the the theft alarm has gone off by itself on a few occasions and was diffucult to deactivate. Additionally, there are no control buttons for the heated/ventilated seats on the dash and they can only be accessed through the infotainment system, which is inconvenient. It 's not a perfect car, but my Challenger is easy to live with on a daily basis and very comfortable to drive akthough the handling could be better.… - 5.0
One of the last of the great muscle cars.

This is my second Challenger. Had a 19’ RT but had to get a 23’ Last Call Edition Widebody Scat Pack Shaker. Both great rides but the 23’ is just more of a road beast and the Widebody look can’t be beat! I would encourage anyone who truly enjoys driving to get a Challenger no matter what trim level is your desire. You won’t regret the decision.…
